HELP US CONTINUE TO BE A VIABLE
CREATIVE FORCE IN OUR COMMUNITY
The
Franklin County Arts Alliance is looking forward to finishing out 2016 and
stepping into 2017 with positive affirmation. Those of you who have been members and supporters for the
past twenty years understand that most of our programs are shared with the
community free of charge. FCAA
received no local tax help this year and it has stretched the budget. We want to encourage you to consider us
as a viable and worthy organization that has tax-deductible status. We have a beautiful building that has
even been further enhanced the last few years with a new roof, air/heat unit,
new electrical wiring where needed and Christmas lights on our building that
let us shine as brightly as every other building in downtown Mt. Vernon. Thanks to Lowes Distribution, Interior
Passions, sponsors and volunteers, we have a new floor, refrigerator,
dishwasher, outdoor tables and chairs.
Tom Scott Lumber helped with Landscape mulch and Dorcee Finney did a
wonderful job weeding.

We’re sorry if you missed the DRIVEN Film
Festival. Linda Hammond and crew
decked us out in style,
Chef Donna Copeland and
helpers took us on a satisfying tour of 1920-30’s food that matched up with
Dustin Ellis’ Edison phonograph music on Friday evening.
Saturday,
the house was packed to see videos including book trailers, creative and
documentary as well as the state of Texas Bankhead Faces and Places
videos. We were honored to have a
number of guests including Susan Shore who presented Mayor Kit Marshall of
Aledo the winning Texas Historical Commission and Texas Heritage video
prize. Our own dignitaries
including Chamber Manager Diane Newsome and Mayor Margaret Sears attended.
Mt. Vernon talent showed
up in films by Liz Etheridge, Stephen Marshall and Jason Lewis. There are so many creative local people
to recognize. What a wonderful
time was had by all. Special
recognition to our featured director Brad Maule, guests from the Metroplex Kay
and Louis Moore and the Convivial Society.
But none of
the good times would be possible without our members, volunteers and
sponsors.
