Over the next few weeks there will be new changes to our blog/website. This is the perfect time to join Franklin County Arts Alliance as a member and enjoy the benefits of community growth in the arts.
Coming in November will be a Pot Luck Supper and the decorating of the tree for the lighting ceremony on November 25th. This would be a fun family event. Watch for upcoming news on times and places.

Upcoming Events in Franklin County.....
This week I had a gentleman stop by the office and ask if we had a ‘person of the week’ program. (We don’t.) He wanted to nominate J.C. Fountain at Brookshire’s Grocery. If we had such a program, J.C. would certainly be at the top of the list! I have never seen him when he was not friendly, helpful and caring and I think everyone in town agrees with me. Three cheers for Brookshire’s and J.C.!
Lisa Holliday at Logan’s Pointe is looking for a part time leasing agent. If you are interested, go by the office and pick up an application. They are open Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30. Spread the word!
The Genealogical Society invites you to join them for their monthly meeting next Monday evening, August 15th at 7pm. This month Don Raney will be speaking on DNA and Genealogy. We hope to see you there!
4H Construction is excited to announce their new office location. They are now located at 6945 FM115 in the Cypress Lifts and Marine building. Be sure to stop by and talk to them about that project you have been meaning to get started on. Check out their website at www.4hconsstmgmt.com or give them a call at 903 285 1611!
The Coe & Co. book club will meet next Tuesday, August 16th, at the store. The book selection for this month is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. If the author’s name sounds familiar it may be you know her from her previous book, Seabiscuit. Once again, she has written a wonderful story of individual heroism and fortitude. Louis Zamperini’s life as an Olympic runner, WWII fighter pilot, prisoner of war survivor, husband and friend is compelling. Even if you have not read the book, take a dish (Margaret Sears brought cobbler last time…YUM) and join them. You will be glad you did!
Plans are well underway for our annual Labor Day Rodeo Festival! The Chamber is sponsoring a street dance on Friday night, Bob McFarland is rustling up the grub with the Bean Feed, J.D. Baumgardner is busy organizing the Parade, Donna McFarland is getting fun and games together for the Kid’s Corral, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Posse is bringing the famous Cowgirl Chicks to us for a concert on the square plus planning a great Rodeo for Saturday and Sunday nights. This will be a fun, family weekend. Be sure you are a part of it!
